Containment DBQ

DBQ Question: What was containment?

Checklist:

  1. Background Essay Questions using the Background Essay (15 points)
  2. Document Questions (answer on loose-leaf paper) (40 points)
  3. Bucketing/Chickenfoot paper (10 points)
    • Buckets will be the 3 body paragraphs
      • Berlin Blockade and Airlift
      • Korean War
      • Cuban Missile Crisis
  4. Outline (25 points)
    • For your body paragraphs:
      • Baby thesis - topic sentence
      • Evidence - story of the event, what happened?
      • Argument - how is  this an example of containment? Look at the last question you answered for each document (B-D) - you already answered this!
  5. Essay (50 points) - write this on loose-leaf paper

    • Watch video on Bay of Pigs & Cuban Missile Crisis
    • In workbook/review book, read page 222 and answer questions #3, 5, 8, on pages 226-227
    • Complete "Guiding Questions" worksheet on Cuban Missile Crisis - Documents for the questions

Korean War

  • In class, we have been completing a timeline and map regarding the Korean War.
  • We have also sent tweets in the character of one of the leaders involved in the Korean War.  5 tweets should have been sent (link is in Google Classroom).
  • Completed "Korean War Activities - Truman v. MacArthur" in Google Classroom using the two documents

Capstone Research

Wednesday, February 10 and Thursday February 11

In class, we were researching information for our Capstone Project.  You need to find one article for each time period and complete the Gathering Evidence paper in the 10th Grade Capstone class in Google Classroom.  After Thursday, you should have at least ONE Gathering Evidence completed.

Homework for the weekend: Chapter 4 (pages 16-21) in your Review Book - remember, you can write in this book!

Cold War Storybook

Today we begin our Cold War Storybook.  We will work on this IN CLASS this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  After Friday, you will need to complete the rest on your own time.

Storybooks are due TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9.  If your storybook is late, you will lose 10% for each day it is late.

REMEMBER:

  • Summaries must be in YOUR words - no copying from other students, from the book, or from a random internet site.
  • Pictures must be drawn by YOU - do not print anything to glue or tape in your storybook.  You allowed to get ideas from the internet or your book.
